TikTok could soon compete with Facebook, with group messaging feature
The Chinese social network specializing in short videos could compete with Facebook by unveiling a group discussion feature soon.
TikTok wants its piece of the pie. The Chinese social network, specializing in the distribution of short videos, and which is a hit with the youngest, is about to launch a group messaging function within its application.
A feature like this already exists on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. The arrival of an option would allow TikTok to compete with competitors already well established in this sector such as Facebook.
With a group chat function, the ByteDance application, which already includes a live streaming function, as well as an e-commerce offer that it launched a few months ago in France by partnering with Shopify, could thus offer influencers a new way to catch the attention of fans.
According to Reuters sources, who did not wish to be identified, TikTok would not plan to encrypt the exchanges held in this group messaging.
