Samsung won't launch Galaxy Note this year, "due to component shortage"

The S-Pen stylus is not expected to fit into any smartphone in 2021.

According to Samsung, the shortage of components may prevent the release of a Galaxy Note 21 this year. This excuse is surprising. The Korean doesn't seem to have as many problems with his other smartphones.

For several months, rumors have been agreeing on an abandonment of the Galaxy Note range in 2021. The compatibility of the latest Galaxy S21 Ultra with the S-Pen stylus has only made these indiscretions more believable, even if Samsung does not cease to repeat that he still believes in his Galaxy Note.

Finally, the Korean brand confirms that the Galaxy Note should be discontinued this year. Samsung swears that it will launch a new stylus smartphone in the future, but hints that it will be until 2022.

If the Galaxy Note 21 does not see the light of day, it's because of the semiconductor crisis, according to a company executive. Allow us to doubt it.

An excuse that is difficult to take seriously

It was during an interview with investors that Koh Dong-jin, co-CEO of Samsung, broke the bad news to Galaxy Note fans. According to him, releasing a Galaxy Note this year may be complicated. We will probably have to wait until 2022.
This excuse doesn't seem to make much sense, however, when you consider what the Korean giant has planned for this year. Samsung has just released three Galaxy S21s (in Exynos and Snapdragon versions), is preparing new Galaxy A for 2021 (mobiles that sell much more than the Galaxy Note), Galaxy M for emerging markets and should announce several smartphones this summer. folding, equipped with high-end components.
Component shortages are a real issue for manufacturers to consider, but the absence of a Galaxy Note in 2021 was certainly long overdue. Samsung is gradually preparing its customers with this kind of announcement ... but does not take responsibility for its decision.

It's hard to understand why Samsung does not simply say that it intends to bet on its folding smartphones this year rather than on the Galaxy Note. The return of the stylus smartphone in the future is by no means assured.
