Cartoon Network and Boomerang are popular in Africa..

The youth channels Cartoon Network and Boomerang continue to be the favorites of African youth, according to WarnerMedia, owner of the two channels.

Between 2019 and 2020, Cartoon Network's reach increased by 10%, with more than 6 million households tuning in. On the other hand, Boomerang also increased its reach by 31%, bringing the channel to more than 5.5 million households. With a combined share of 47% of children's pay-TV channels, the two brands account for almost half of the children's market.

The ratings of Cartoon Network Africa and Boomerang Africa have improved over the past year, with the channels now ranking first and second among all children's pay-TV channels. Boomerang's performance increased by 50% year-on-year between 2019 and 2020. Cartoon Network in South Africa confirms its place as number one of all children's pay TV channels with a deviation of more than 143% from its next competitor.

With the increase in content consumption on digital platforms, Cartoon Network and Boomerang rank in the Top 10 YouTube channels in the Kids & Entertainment category in South Africa, # 2 and # 5 respectively. Boomerang Africa's YouTube channel has proven to be a strong contender with an increase of over 100%, with 1.8 million subscribers. By comparison, Cartoon Network Africa increased its numbers by 55%, reaching 1.5 million subscribers. Traffic to both web pages also showed impressive results, with visits to the local Cartoon Network Africa website increasing by 180% and the Boomerang Africa website by 171%.

Teen Titans Go !, DC Super Hero Girls, The Regular Show, Supa Strikas, the Pan-African Association of South Africa's football-themed series, is among Cartoon Network Africa's top performing shows.

Boomerang Africa's best shows include Mr Bean: The Animated Series, Zig and Sharko, and Masha and the Bear. The channel's films, including the Scooby-Doo films and the Tom and Jerry films, continue to contribute audiences.

The two channels kicked off 2021 with brand new original shows and local productions. In March, Cartoon Network Africa launched Elliott From Earth, with Africa being one of the first two countries to host the show as part of the global launch and Boomerang launched Kikoumba the same month...
