8TV debuts in Latvia...

A new Russian language channel named 8TV and operated by the incumbent telco Tet has launched in Latvia.

It offers viewers sport (hockey), shows, movies and TV series and will initially be made available to Helio interactive TV subscribers, as well as on the Tet+ entertainment platform. However, following the World Hockey Championship, it will also be on Helio terrestrial TV.

Commenting on the development, Kaspars Ozolins, CEO of Tet’s subsidiary Helio Media, said: “Our many years of experience in creating 360TV and STV Pirma! channels, which are already well known and loved in Latvia, allow us to successfully understand the needs of viewers. Therefore, we are confident that those who prefer quality Russian language content will appreciate and like cozy television “boutique”, which we previously introduced under the name 5TV. We have selected the best content so that everyone interested can enjoy their favourite films, series and shows in Russian with family and friends”...
