Oppo would soon compete with Apple AirTag and Samsung SmartTag..

Oppo's Ultra Wideband tracker is said to differentiate itself from its competitors thanks to a USB Type-C port, which would allow it to do without a disposable battery. It's unclear when Oppo will announce it.
Apple still inspires its competitors. After two years of leaks, the Californian brand has just formalized the AirTag, its Bluetooth and Ultra Wideband tracker designed to help you find your items.
A few months earlier, Samsung had given it priority with its Galaxy SmartTag, two products clearly created to arrive before the Californian brand. Tech giants seem to be waking up and discovering this industry hitherto driven by Tile.
Apple having finally drawn, we are now awaiting the response of all of its competitors. While waiting for Xiaomi, Huawei and the others, Oppo could well be the first to embark on the world of connected trackers.
UWB and USB Type-C
It was on Weibo that the mysterious Oppo tracker appeared. A user hidden behind the nickname Digital Chat Station posted two images of the Chinese brand's future product.
We discover a product with a design very close to the AirTag on which is written the mention "Ultra Wideband", which suggests that the Oppo tracker can be located to the nearest centimeter, like that of Apple (even if the Oppo smartphones are not yet compatible with this technology).
We also note the presence of a USB Type-C port, a first for a product of this kind. The Oppo Tag would be rechargeable.
Of course, UWB and Bluetooth LE are not enough to counter AirTag. The strength of the Californian Tracker lies in Apple's Find My ecosystem .
Any iPhone in the wild can help find a lost AirTag, which might not work as well with an Oppo smartphone (although the brand has a big presence in some markets, like China).
Ultimately, a giant like Google will no doubt have to design a similar network for all Android devices to help each other...
