Microsoft's antivirus installs a patch to break the chain of attack that currently threatens mail servers around the world.

Faced with the wave of attacks on vulnerable Exchange servers, Microsoft decided to push the plug a little further and automate the installation of the patch for one of the four vulnerabilities used by hackers (in this case CVE-2021 -26855).

This update will be done through Windows Defender, Microsoft's antivirus. "This automatic mitigation breaks the chain of attack," said the editor in a blog note.

Users are therefore immune to the most virulent attacks. However, it is recommended to install the other patches for better security.

Those who have another antivirus on their Exchange servers are advised to use the "one click" installation tool that Microsoft has specially concocted. It must be said that there is now a fire in the lake.

More than a dozen hacker groups are trying to infect Exchange servers around the world, including to deposit ransomware .
