The Czech public broadcaster Ceska Televize (CT) will continue transmitting its temporary channel CT3 until at least next spring due to the second wave of coronavirus now affecting the country.

CT3 was launched in March and has been helping the most endangered part of the population, namely the elderly. Its hours will also be extended on December 12, from the current 09.00-17.25 to 09.00-22.00.

Commenting on the development, CT’s CEO Petr Dvorak said: “Immediately after its launch, the CT3 channel received an exceptionally favourable audience response; within its broadcasting time, it was the fifth most watched station in the Czech Republic and even the third most sought-after in the group of viewers over the age of 65. Even now, after seven months of broadcasting, it reaches more than half a million viewers over the age of 65 every week and, together with CT art, it is the best-rated Czech Television channel.

“As in the case of UcíTelka’s return to screens we are also responding to the current situation in the case of CT3, and therefore, as long as the programme and financial conditions allow, we will continue broadcasting, at least until March”....
