iPhone 13 Apple could integrate a lidar in all its models..

According to sources close to component manufacturers, Apple should generalize lidar technology in its iPhones in 2021 and no longer reserve it for its Pro models.

When launching its iPhone 12 range, Apple introduced lidar (light detection and ranging) technology on its 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max models . It had initially introduced it in its 2020 iPad Pro , but the manufacturer could go further by generalizing this technology on all models of the future iPhone 13 range.

According to sources close to the manufacturers of components for lidar, Apple is expected to integrate this module into all its iPhones by 2021. In addition, Sony has signed a three-year contract with Apple to supply a new generation of lidar, which would be used in iPhone in 2023.

For their part, manufacturers of Android smartphones, including Samsung, should also adopt this technology in smartphones offered from the first half of 2022.
