According to Digitimes, Apple would have approached Samsung to improve the zoom of its iPhones. This partnership is however still in its infancy.

According to information from the Taiwanese daily Digitimes, Apple is discussing with Samsung Electronics to improve the zoom of iPhones. The brand in turn would like to adopt a periscope module to benefit from a greater coefficient of optical magnification, like Huawei, Oppo or Samsung.

However, as the Gizmochina site points out, this merger between Apple and Samsung does not necessarily mean that the next iPhone 13 will be equipped with a periscopic zoom.

Already, the deadlines seem too short. Then, Apple and Samsung could discuss for patent reasons and not prepare a future partnership. The site recalls that Corephotonis, an Israeli company specializing in optical zooming for smartphones, recently filed a complaint against Apple for patent infringement.

It just so happens that Samsung has just acquired Corephotonis. Does Apple just want to settle its differences? Is he really considering a super zoom? It will undoubtedly be necessary to wait several months, even a few years, to find out.
