Companies, whose fleet of machines still runs Windows 7, will benefit from a respite. Google Chrome will be supported on the old Microsoft operating system until January 15, 2022.

Despite the official end of support for Windows 7 by Microsoft, many users are still using Microsoft's old operating system. This is the case, for example, of companies which, for a fee, can benefit from three additional years of updates with the Redmond firm.

To meet the needs of these users, developers of third-party software such as web browsers continue to support Windows 7. This is what Google offers with its Chrome web browser whose support for Windows 7 was initially provided until July 15. 2021.

An additional period of 6 months

But Google has just offered a new reprieve to users who have not yet migrated their machines to Windows 10, in particular to companies which have not yet completed the migration of their IT equipment to the version newer operating system from Microsoft. They will benefit from Google Chrome updates on their computers until January 15, 2022.

With this additional delay, Google hopes to give its business customers a boost so that they can continue their business normally while giving them enough time to upgrade to Windows 10.
