Windows 11 could abandon Skype in favor of Teams..

Post by sanjay kumar »

The Skype application would be replaced by Teams as the default tool for communicating and for organizing virtual meetings in Windows 11.

The preliminary version of Windows 11 which has leaked on the web provides information on the Skype communication program.

This is no longer installed by default on the operating system, as it was in Windows 10. As a result, the Meet Now icon is no longer present in the taskbar.

Use this icon to quickly start a video meeting in Skype, even without signing up for the service. It had been added during a Windows 10 update to facilitate video calls during the pandemic.

Microsoft hasn't killed its communications program, however, and people who want to use it can install it from the Microsoft Store app store.

The publisher has not given up on the idea of being able to launch a virtual meeting with a minimum of clicks.

A new Meet & Chat button is appearing in the Windows 11 taskbar and should provide faster access to online conversations and meetings in Teams.

Indeed, the program is no longer reserved for companies and can now be used free of charge with family or friends . It would therefore not be surprising if Microsoft plans to install it by default in Windows 11.

However, we will have to wait for the final version of Windows 11 to see if the choices made by Microsoft in the preliminary version are retained...
