Nokia simplifies its smartphones with new names and more affordable prices..

Post by sanjay kumar »

Say goodbye to Nokia 3.4, 5.2 and 7.1 Plus, the future smartphones of the Finnish brand will have simpler names. The first six devices of the "new Nokia" will be marketed between 75 and 399 euros.

HMD Global, the owner of the Nokia brand since 2016, is launching six new smartphones. Since most of these fall into the entry-level category, we will not present them to you in detail in this article.

We are nevertheless interested in an interesting element: Nokia has decided to rename its ranges. The brand abandons complicated names based on version numbers for a more classic concept, namely a letter followed by two numbers.

C, G and X, the new Nokia ranges

From today, the most affordable smartphones from the Finnish manufacturer will belong to the C range. The brand is inspired by the names of Samsung devices with a C10 (75 euros) and a C20 (89 euros) which will be succeeded by a C11 and a C21 in the future.

Nokia also reserves the right to launch C30 and C40, logically superior devices. In short, we should more easily identify the brand's smartphones from now on.

Still in the entry-level sector, we have the G range. The Nokia G10 (149 euros) and Nokia G20 (179 euros) rely on autonomy (5050 mAh) to distinguish themselves from smartphones in the C range.

They will also be entitled to three years of security updates, against 2 years for their little brothers.

Finally, the X range corresponds to the mid-range. The Nokia X10 (329 euros) and Nokia X20 (399 euros) are the only devices already launched in France among these novelties, even if the G10 and G20 should also be available.

They will be entitled to three major Android updates and even have the luxury of being compatible with 5G (Snapdragon 480).

It is especially in terms of the camera that these two smartphones stand out, the X20 uses a main sensor of 64 Mpix while the X10 is satisfied with 48 Mpix (even if that does not mean much). The rest is almost identical between the two mobiles, including their sizes (6.67 inches).

With this redesign, Nokia forgets one category: the high end. Should we see there a desire to refocus on more affordable smartphones? The future will tell if, in addition to the C, G and X, Nokia has a fourth letter under its elbow...
